Piliero, Mazza & Pargament provides a wide range of services to Indian tribes, Alaska Native Corporations, and concerns owned by Native Americans. Our presence in Washington, D.C. enables us to keep our tribal clients current on legislative and regulatory matters.
We review the potential consequences of legislative activities with our tribal and Alaska Native Corporation clients and take a proactive approach whenever necessary. Our firm is experienced with the procedures for placing tribally-owned lands into trust. We review the availability of federal and state grant monies for tribes and general eligibility criteria for those grants. We counsel clients on the availability of federal government contracting opportunities through such programs as the Small Business Administration's Section 8(a) Program and its Historically Underutilized Business Zone ("HUBZone") Program.
We are sensitive to the sovereignty issues facing tribes, particularly as they expand into more traditional business ventures. We counsel tribes and Alaska Native Corporations on how best to form corporations and establish relationships with third parties while providing maximum protection to shareholders and tribal members.
